Is the Neretva stand mixer worth buying if you want an affordable stand mixer for baking at home? As a former professional chef turned homemaker, I look for kitchen appliances that are practical, reliable, and worth the space they take up on my counter.
I purchased the Neretva stand mixer because I wanted a mixer for making bread, cakes, cookies, and other homemade favorites. In this review, I’m sharing what I’ve liked about it, what I would change, and who I think might appreciate this budget-friendly mixer.

Why I Chose the Neretva Stand Mixer
I previously owned a KitchenAid stand mixer, but I eventually got rid of it. It was heavy, and grease had started coming out of the motor. When I started looking for another stand mixer, I wanted something that would work for everyday baking without being so difficult to move around the kitchen.
I had already been happy with my Neretva bread maker, so I decided to try the brand’s stand mixer, too. I also compared other budget-friendly stand mixers available online before making my decision.
One of the biggest things that attracted me to this model was its combination of a large bowl, a powerful motor for its price range, and a design that looks attractive on the counter.
Neretva Stand Mixer Pros
1. A Large Bowl for Bigger Batches
One feature I particularly like is the bowl capacity of more than 6 quarts. A larger bowl gives me more room when I’m preparing bigger batches of baked goods for my family.
If you regularly bake bread, cookies, cakes, or other recipes in larger quantities, bowl capacity is an important feature to consider when shopping for a stand mixer.
2. A Splash Guard to Help Keep Things Cleaner
The Neretva comes with a guard that helps prevent ingredients from splattering out of the bowl. I also like that it helps protect the area underneath the mixer head from getting messy during mixing.
My previous mixer didn’t have this same feature, and I found that area could get quite dirty. For me, the guard is a practical addition that makes the design more appealing.
3. A Timer That Stops the Mixer Automatically
One of my favorite features is the built-in timer. You can set a mixing time, and the mixer stops when the timer finishes.
I like this because some recipes specify how long ingredients should be mixed. It can also be helpful when whipping cream, because keeping track of mixing time can help you avoid accidentally overwhipping it.
The timer also counts upward while the mixer is running, so you can see how long you’ve been mixing even when you haven’t set a countdown.
4. Easier to Move Than My Former KitchenAid
The Neretva is noticeably lighter than the KitchenAid mixer I used to own. In my video, I compare the Neretva at approximately 16 pounds with my former KitchenAid at approximately 24 pounds.
That difference matters if you prefer to put your mixer away after using it instead of leaving it permanently on the counter. A lighter appliance is easier to move when you need the extra workspace.
5. A Convenient Lift Mechanism
I also appreciate the lever that helps raise and lower the mixer head. It makes accessing the bowl and attachments more convenient than manually lifting a heavy mixer head.
6. An Attractive, Budget-Friendly Design
The Neretva has a modern appearance, and I like how it looks on my kitchen counter. It is also a more budget-friendly option than some premium stand mixers.
For someone who wants a stand mixer that looks nice and offers useful features without spending as much on a premium brand, these are appealing advantages.
Neretva Stand Mixer Cons
1. The Attachments Feel Lighter
The mixer comes with a paddle attachment, a whisk, and a dough hook. However, I noticed that the attachments feel lighter and less substantial than those on my former KitchenAid.
They still serve their purpose, but the difference in materials and overall feel is worth knowing about if you’re accustomed to a heavier-duty mixer.
2. The Materials Don’t Feel as Heavy-Duty
One trade-off with a less expensive stand mixer is that some of the materials may not feel as substantial as those on a more expensive model.
That doesn’t automatically mean the mixer won’t work well for your needs. It simply means that if premium build quality is your top priority, you may prefer a different option.
3. Mixing on Low Speed Didn’t Work Well for My Brownie Batter
When I made brownie batter, I was trying to beat the eggs together with the liquid ingredients at the bottom of the bowl. I found that I needed to turn the mixer all the way up to high speed rather than getting the result I wanted on low.
This was one of the practical limitations I noticed while using it. If you make recipes that require a lot of gentle mixing, it’s worth watching my video to see the mixer and hear more about my experience.
4. I Noticed a Sound After Turning It Off
I also noticed that a sound continued after I switched the mixer off, although it seemed to stop when I lifted the mixer head. I couldn’t determine the reason for this in my review, but it was something I noticed during use.
Is the Neretva Stand Mixer Better Than a KitchenAid?
I wouldn’t say that the Neretva is simply better than a KitchenAid. They offer different trade-offs, and the right choice depends on what matters most to you.
- Consider the Neretva if you want a more affordable mixer, a large bowl, a built-in timer, and a lighter appliance that’s easier to move around the kitchen.
- Consider a premium mixer if heavier-feeling materials and a more substantial build are especially important to you.
My former KitchenAid was heavier, and I preferred the lighter weight of the Neretva. However, I also noticed that the Neretva’s attachments felt less substantial. Those are the kinds of real-world differences I would consider before deciding which mixer to buy.
Who Should Consider the Neretva Stand Mixer?
Based on my experience, the Neretva is worth considering if you’re a home baker looking for an attractive, budget-friendly stand mixer with a large bowl and convenient features.
It may be especially appealing if you bake regularly but don’t want to spend as much on a premium mixer. On the other hand, if you prioritize the feel of heavy-duty materials above price and weight, compare it carefully with other models before buying.
