A Daniel Fast smoothie recipe is a drink recipe that is approved for the Daniel Fast diet. It’s made with whole food plant based ingredients. Smoothies are great for this fast because they are easy to meal prep ahead of time and can be packed with nutrition. They’re also great for to-go meals and for when you need a quick snack.
Best smoothie for Daniel Fasting
I recommend sticking to one great smoothie for the Daniel Fast.
In my opinion the best smoothie for a Daniel Fast is one that contains a variety of foods that are packed with nutrition. It makes it easy to get a variety of nutrients into your diet first thing in the morning.
Green smoothies are also a great substitute for coffee!
Here’s some of the best ingredients for fasting smoothies:
- Spinach
- Apples
- Almond butter
- Dates
- Citrus fruit
These ingredients pair well together and can last about 1 week in the refrigerator. Simply blend up a big batch of this smoothie in the beginning of the week and your smoothie meal prep is done.
Green smoothie recipe
Green smoothies are made with green vegetables, like spinach. Smoothies are a great way to get greens into your diet because the blender does the “chewing” for you. They are also great for starting your day with green vegetables. Combine fruit and greens together for a delicious and sweet smoothie. Add nuts like almond butter for good fats and protein.

Citrus smoothie variation
This recipe is great with combined with the Citrus smoothie recipe. Combine 1 cup Green Apple Smoothie with 1 cup Citrus Smoothie for a variation.

Best blender for Daniel Fast smoothies
I recommend a high powered blender for Daniel Fast smoothies because they are able to thoroughly blend all ingredients, including whole apples and citrus.
My recommended brand of blender is Vitamix.
I have two Vitamix blenders, one I’ve been using for 20 years and it still works great. You can easily purchase replacement parts on Amazon if needed. The blender canister is large enough to blend enough smoothies at one time for several days.

Best smoothie jars
I recommend glass jars with lids for storing smoothies in the refrigerator. My recommended brand is Ball brand jars. These are great for storing Smoothies, Vegan Queso Sauce, and Brazil Nut Milk.

Green Apple Smoothie
This fruit and green smoothie is perfect for breakfast or snack.
Makes 8 cups smoothie
Equipment
- Vitamix blenders
- Wusthof serrated knife
- Cutting board
- 2 32oz glass jars, such as Ball jars
Ingredients
- 8 dates, pitted, soaked in 1 cup hot water for 10 minutes
- 3 apples, green or red
- 1 citrus fruit such as grapefruit, lemon or orange, peeled or 1 cup Citrus smoothie recipe
- 4 tablespoons almond butter
- 2-4 cups baby spinach
- Water, to cover
Directions
- Soak dates in 1 cup hot water in blender canister for 10 minutes.
- Cut apples into quarters and cut out core. Place into blender canister.
- Cut citrus fruit into quarters and place into blender canister.
- Add almond butter.
- Add as much baby spinach as you can into the blender canister, about 2-4 cups.
- Add water to cover all the ingredients.
- Blend on high about 1 minute, or until dates and apples are thoroughly blended.
- Pour into two 32oz glass jars and cover with lids. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Serving suggestions
- Enjoy 1-2 cups Green Apple Smoothie in the morning for breakfast or as a snack.
- Enjoy 1 cup Green Apple Smoothie and 1 cup Citrus smoothie recipe for a refreshing drink as a variation.
