Wondering if you should buy a vegetable and fruit washing machine? In this post I compare the three types of cleaning machines and share a video review of one I recently purchased with my honest review. I also share about the different types of ultrasonic cleaning machines for foods like fruits, vegetables, grains and more.

What is an Ultrasonic Vegetable and Fruit Washing Machine?
- An Ultrasonic Vegetable and Fruit Washing Machine is a device that cleans produce using high-frequency sound waves (ultrasonic vibrations).
Here’s how it works:
• Uses ultrasonic technology to create gentle vibrations that loosen dirt, pesticide residue, and bacteria from the surface of fruits and vegetables
• You typically fill the machine with water, add your produce, and let it run for a few minutes
• The sound waves agitate the water around the produce without damaging delicate fruits or vegetables
Key benefits:
• Deeper cleaning than manual washing with hands or brushes
• Gentle on produce – won’t bruise or damage soft fruits like berries or tomatoes
• Convenient – especially useful for families buying organic produce or those focused on food safety (I use this for my green juice prep!)
• Removes more residue – more effective at removing dirt and potential contaminants than water alone
Common features:
• Holds varying amounts of produce (typically enough for several servings)
• Most have simple one-button operation
• Often include draining baskets for easy removal
• Power options: rechargeable, battery, or plug-in
If your focus is on organic ingredients and fresh meal prep, this could be a great addition to your kitchen routine.
Types of ultrasonic cleaning machines for food
Here’s a breakdown of the three cleaning technologies used across the products I compared:
Titanium (Ti) Electrolysis
IMENE, Voltiefy, Zaptrfnic brands

This is the cleaning machine I purchased and use
• Uses titanium electrodes to generate hydroxyl radicals in water — powerful natural oxidants
• Breaks down pesticide residues, bacteria, and chemical coatings on produce
• 360° vortex rotation ensures full surface contact
• Works without any added chemicals
• Best for: everyday produce cleaning, grains, meat, tableware
FAQS
Does it replace washing by hand?
Yes. Just put the food in with water and the machine, press start, and walk away.
Do you still rinse afterward?
With the Titanium one above, no you don’t. With the ozone cleaner below, you do.
Can you use it with organic produce?
Yes. In my video above everything I cleaned was organic.
Can you clean beans and grains?
Yes. In my video above I showed how I cleaned brown rice and soy beans.
How long does a cycle take?
Each type of food has a different cycle, ranging from 3-10 minutes. Then you have to let the food sit for another 5-10 minutes which is when the electrolysis actually takes place.
Does it work on leafy greens?
Yes. I used it to clean kale in the unboxing video above.
OH-Ion Purification
Cudinham

• Generates hydroxide ions (OH⁻) to neutralize contaminants
• Gentler process compared to Ti-electrolysis
• Typically single-mode operation
• Best for: light everyday cleaning on a budget
Ozone Technology
PowerScale

• Generates ozone gas (O₃) which is a powerful disinfectant, killing bacteria and breaking down pesticides at a molecular level
• Micro-nano bubbles penetrate deeper into produce surfaces
• EPA-certified process, considered more thorough than electrolysis
• Best for: deep purification, high-volume cleaning, or households with strong food safety concerns
• Note: If you’re concerned about ozone safety — it’s worth knowing that ozone machines should be used in ventilated areas and the produce rinsed well after treatment
Bottom line:
• Budget + basic cleaning → OH-Ion (Cudinham)
• Balanced performance + portability → Ti-Electrolysis (IMENE or Voltiefy)
• Maximum purification → Ozone (PowerScale), but consider the safety precautions
