What is a Daniel Fast?
- Daniel Fasting is a term used to describe a biblical plant based diet where cravable foods are eliminated for a period of time.
- The goal with Daniel Fasting is to abandon addictions and feed your body the basic foods it needs to be able to function well in order to serve your purpose in life.
- The Daniel Fast diet is based on the diet which Daniel, from the Old Testament of the Bible, consumed during his time in captivity, as well as times when he was focused on getting closer to God.
- Daniel consumed a diet of “vegetables and water“, including “no meat or wine“, meaning a basic whole food plant based diet.

Drinks
Start your day with a hot beverage and smoothie. Make your own homemade nut milk and citrus peel tonic, if desired. You’ll want a blender for most of these:

Breakfast

Snacks
Snacks are a great way to get an extra boost of protein, vitamins and minerals during the fast. They are also great for on-the-go when you need something quick and easy. You don’t have to feel guilty about snacking with Daniel Fast approved snacks.
Lunch
Everyday is the same lunch throughout the fast. It consists of hummus, veggies and flatbread. Keeping it simple is key to maintaining a healthy, well-balanced diet during the Daniel Fast. It also makes meal prep super quick and easy.
It’s likely you’ll find that this meal is delicious and doesn’t get boring. Meal prep all the ingredients ahead of time and store in meal prep containers for grab-and-go lunches.

Dinner
The dinners during this fast are hearty and repeating. In the first four days of the fast you’ll enjoy homemade vegan queso sauce over cooked brown rice, beans, and vegetables. Top with vegan sour cream if desired, and serve with tortillas as a burrito, taco, or tostada.
During the final three days of the fast you’ll enjoy simple roasted potatoes and vegetables topped with queso sauce or your favorite toppings.
