Top 8 questions about Cronometer app – answered!

Here’s the eight most common questions about the Cronometer app answered in 2024:

What does Cronometer cost?

The Cronometer app offers several options, here’s a quick overview of the pricing:

Basic membership is FREE

You can get a variety of perks with just the free membership. For many people, this is a great way to get started. I started with the free basic membership plan when I joined Cronometer. At first, I just used the app to track my nutrition, calories, and make sure I was meeting my daily goals.

Gold membership is $10.99/month or $59.88/year

To upgrade to the Gold membership it is less than $11 per month if you bill monthly, or $4.58/month of you bill annually.

Is Cronometer a calorie counter app?

Yes!

Cronometer does have a calorie counter.

This is a great app for calorie counting. Here’s an example of my diary showing the Cronometer calorie counter:

Can you connect Garmin and Cronometer?

Yes!

You can connect a Garmin device with the Cronometer app.

Here’s what Cronometer says:

By connecting Garmin and Cronometer, you’ll be able to import the following metrics into Cronometer:

  • Sleep Score and Body Battery (new!)
  • Resting Heart Rate
  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
  • Oxygen Saturation (Sp02)
  • Respiration Rate
  • Blood Pressure
  • Daily Activity
  • Exercise
  • Body Fat %
  • Weight

Once connected, select which metrics you’d like to sync into Cronometer and the app will automatically pull the data into your Diary.

Cronometer Gold subscribers have access to Custom Charts, which will allow you to chart your metrics against nutrient intake. For example, you could see how your nutrition (like magnesium intake) affects your sleep or how alcohol intake might affect your resting heart rate. For some more Custom Chart inspiration, check out this blog.

Can you connect Cronometer with Apple Watch and Apple Health?

Yes!

You can connect an Apple Watch with Cronometer app.

Here’s what they have to say about connecting to this option:

You can download Cronometer on your Apple Watch and scroll through a snapshot of your energy intake, remaining energy, highlighted targets, nutrition scores (for gold users) and more right from the comfort of your own wrist.

Many of you will know that we already sync Cronometer and Apple Health data, but we now have our very own Apple Watch app!

That’s right! Apple Watch wearers can download a version of the Cronometer app onto their watches.

With the Cronometer Apple Watch app, you’ll be able to:

  • View your energy intake
  • View your remaining energy
  • View your highlighted targets
  • If you’re a Gold subscriber, view your Nutrition Scores

If you don’t have an Apple Watch, you can still connect Apple Health with Cronometer.

Here’s what Cronometer says about syncing with this option:

Data is super important when it comes to nailing your health and wellness goals. With the integration of Cronometer and Apple Health, users have a tool at their disposal to track their nutrition and exercise in one seamless experience. This combo is all about helping you make smart choices for your health and fitness by bringing together your exercise info and biometrics right into your Cronometer account.

By connecting Cronometer and Apple Health you will be able to import the following metrics into Cronometer:

  • General Activity
  • Exercise
  • Height
  • Sleep Duration
  • Sleep Stage
  • Sleep Score
  • Recovery Score
  • Heart Rate
  • Body Temperature
  • Body Fat
  • Blood Pressure
  • Blood Glucose
  • Weight
  • Waist Circumference

By connecting Cronometer and Apple Health you will be able to export the following metrics into Apple Health:

  • General Activity
  • 13 Different Nutrients
  • Blood Glucose
  • Body Fat
  • Body Temperature
  • Blood Pressure
  • Dietary Cholesterol
  • Height

Can I use Cronometer with Google Fit?

They offer a little bit of a vague answer for this one.

Yes and no.

Here’s what Cronometer says about Google Fit:

Existing Cronometer users who have Samsung Health or Google Fit connected are encouraged to disconnect from these apps and sync with Health Connect as soon as possible.

If you’re using Samsung Health or Google Fit with your Cronometer account, it’s recommended that you switch and connect to Health Connect as soon as you can. This will make sure you get the best experience possible and set yourself up for success!

Connecting Health Connect can only be done from your mobile app. Please note, you can only be connected to one Android health app at a time, either Samsung Health, Google Fit or Health Connect.

Can I use this app with a vegan diet?

Yes!

Cronometer is great for vegan diet tracking.

When you’re following a vegan diet it’s a great idea to track your daily intake of micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. I use this app specifically to track my B vitamins, calcium, folate, iron and more. I also use the Gold membership option for tracking my alkaline diet. Check out my Cronometer reviews for tracking vitamins and minerals and for alkaline dieting below:

Why Use Cronometer App for Vegan Nutrition Tracking

  • Best app to track vitamins and minerals in 2024
  • Best alkaline diet app in 2024

Here’s a YouTube video tutorial for how I use this app for vegan dieting:

Is Cronometer good for keto diets?

Yes!

Cronometer has a keto tracking option.

Here’s what they have to say about keto Cronometer tracking:

If you’re a bit lost as to how you should be setting your macros in order to follow a keto diet, look no further than the Cronometer keto calculator!

You can set how stringent you want to adhere to a keto program, with options of rigorous, moderate, relaxed or custom.

You can integrate ketone breath and  blood ketone monitors into your Cronometer account to assess your progress within the app. We currently support integrations with Biosense and Ketomojo.

By upgrading to Gold, you’ll have access to our Nutrition Scores feature, which includes a Ketogenic score.

This gives you an overall percentage for how well you’re:

  • Hitting your targets for total fat
  • Staying under your limit for net carbs
  • Achieving your protein target without going over your maximum threshold
  • Eating at least 4000 mg sodium
  • Meeting your targets for potassium, magnesium, water and fiber.

Can I follow the Galveston diet with Cronometer?

Yes!

This app has an option for tracking Galveston diet.

Here’s what they have to say about this option:

Here at Cronometer, we don’t subscribe or push any specific diet. We are here to support you in your health and wellness goals whether you’re on a vegan, ketogenic, mediterranean or you-name-it diet.

As of lately though, we have been noticing that a lot of our users are coming to us from the Galveston Diet, a lifestyle nutrition program designed for those in perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

So, if you’re following or planning to follow Dr. Mary Claire Haver’s Galveston Diet, you’ve come to the right place. Dr. Haver recommends using Cronometer and here are some tips for using the app from the OBGYN herself.
